Spring has sprung
The animals are now out in the fields again after the long, dark winter here in Norway. Even though it doesn't get that cold here, all the animals are kept in the barns day and night during the entire winter. The cows seem stunned by the daylight and all the green grass that is there for the taking. The horses are the exception to the barned winter animals here. They are left out during the nice days but they all wear coats all winter long, except for this kind of horse I have pictured here. They seem to be pretty hardy and must be indigenous to Scandanavia. They have long bangs and short, striped, almost zebra-like manes. I have only ever seen them in this blonde color. (how fitting for Norway that their horses are blonde as well!) And of course, there are sheep everywhere....think of us the next time you buy a Dale wool sweater...the wool most likely came from around here!
