Trysil
Joe, along with all 68 of the other 8th graders at the International School of Stavanger, went on their lierskole (outdoor schooling) trip the last weekend in March. They had 10 adults with them (teachers or administrators). They flew to Oslo and then boarded a chartered bus for the 2.5 hour trip to Trysil. It is a skiing resort. They had an entire large cabin for the students and staff. There were 4 people to a room and they were responsible for the upkeep. They had two full days of alpine skiing and two full days of cross-country skiing. Only one student was injured...and he happened to be the best skiier there. He broke his right collar bone and his left ankle on the last day there. This is the highlight of all the whole middle school...this final lierskole in Trysil. Tim will get to go next year. Joe had a fabulous time. They spent the days skiing and the nights having dances in the common area and playing cards. All the kids were exhausted when they got home. It was a quiet week without him but I am so glad he had such a wonderful time! Now it's on to the grind of high school!
